How to “Steal” Render preset from max file
A few years ago, my friend of mine stealing my 3ds max file from my computer, he burn it to DVD without my permission. after that he was resign from our consultant office bringing a gigs of file with him. but so pitty his render quality is not going better at all, his render still flat, my max file and my preset its not helping so much to him. anyway i will teach you how to learn and take advantage from a max scene file that you know it produce a beautiful image. if you see that file in front of you, at first you must to do is try to package it with menu file-archives-browse and navigate to your flashdisk :D. on that way, those file will be put together including the.. texture, lighting, IES, Environment and the most important is the render preset 
but if you see that those file is not complete, i mean some map texture are missing. at first you must save the render preset, press F10 and then at the bottom of that render dialogue pulldown the menu click save preset. you dont need to remember or even type the parameter one by one, all setting is included at file with “*.rps” extension. save this litle combat kit on your flashdisk, bring it everywhere except you can remember all of that parameters.
if you have more time to do more.. you can save the material library apply to that entire scene. just press “M” to your keyboard click one of the material slot and click vray material and click scene.. tadaaa.. all of the material is on that place. quick save it by press save as at aside of the material dialogue box. now you get the render preset with material setting included.
ok lets hit the gas.. imagine someday you sit in front of your friend computer, and you see that 3ds max program still open, complete with magnificient render result. as a newbie, of course you want that file no matter what it takes :p just simply yelled “hey dude ! may i copy this max file to my flashdisk?” prety honest isnt it ?if your friend said ” hey, dont do that will ya” or ” dont touch my computer ! get away from the keyboard”.. i sugest dont even think about it, i mean thats file is very classified
but if your friend is a kind of faboulus person type, then he said “go a head, copy it as much as you want”i suggest do not said anything again, its time to action hahaha.. before your friend change his mind, move your cursor like image below :
